Men’s Club’s Annual World Wide Wrap

Sunday, February 5

Men’s Club is again observing WWW or World Wide Wrap. This is a day to encourage and teach those who have reached Bar or Bat Mitzvah age how to wear Tefillin. With the help and cooperation of Nicole Jahr and her teachers, we will be showing videos, having in-class instruction and creating “Build-A-Pair” tefillin. These are “mock” tefillin where the students learn what goes into (literally) a pair of tefillin.  On Sunday morning, students and their parents (parents, we encourage you to join us also) will be joining us and participating in morning Minyan, having breakfast with us and practicing the mitzvah of tefillin.

Minchah, Ma’ariv and … Super Bowl!

Sunday, February 5, 5 p.m.

This month we’re ditching the movie to watch the big game. Come for evening minyan, then join the crowd for the Super Bowl, dinner and refreshments. No reservations necessary. Contact Shira Shapiro at 248-543-5321 or the synagogue office for more information.

Sisterhood Book Talk and Reception

Monday, February 6 @ 7 p.m.

Please Join the Sisterhood of CBS As We Welcome Karen Tintori Katz! Karen is the author of The Illumination, The Book of Names, Unto the Daughters, and Trapped: The 1909 Cherry Mine Disaster. As part of her discussion Karen will discuss the background and process of writing all of her books.

Admission before February 6 : $5.00 [$6.00 at the door ]

Tu B’Shevat Seder

Tuesday, February 7, 6 p.m.

Rabbi Gamer and Cantor Greenbaum will lead us in song and prayer at our festive celebration of the new year of trees. Enjoy samplings of fruits, nuts, and fruit of the vine during the Seder, with a light dinner following. Cost is $5/person, $10/family. Call the synagogue office to reserve your spot.

The Inter-Congregational Men’s Clubs Dinner

Thursday, February 9 at 6 p.m.

The Featured Speaker will be Justin Jacobs, the founder of “Come Play Detroit”, a group that organizes intramural leagues and events for young adults around metro Detroit. “Come Play Detroit” was recently featured in Crain’s Detroit Business.

Topic:  “Pitching For Detroit”

Cost: $50 per person

Kabbalat Shabbat Services & Dinner

Friday, February 10, 6 p.m.

Bring your family and friends for a warm, Beth Shalom Kabbalat Shabbat service and congregational dinner. Cost is $15/adult, $7.50/child 4-12, free for children 3 & younger, $45 family max. Call the synagogue office to make your reservation.

Spa Shalom

Sunday, February 12, 3 -5 p.m.

It’s a mother-daughter spa afternoon at Beth Shalom! Moms and their daughters (grades 1-4) are invited to an afternoon of manicures, yoga, and smoothies. Girls will also make a unique item from duct tape, so bring a roll of your favorite designer duct tape to share. This event is free and open to the public. Saturday, February 25 following Shabbat services

Join us for a special lunch and learn following Shabbat services when Hannan Lis reveals the Secrets Behind Israel’s Tech-based Economy. Hannan is originally from Haifa, Israel. He is currently a principal and COO of The WW Group as well as CEO of Lis Ventures, LLC where he is involved in a business collaboration with Israel. He is also very active in the local Jewish Community.

Cafe Shalom Welcomes SoulAviv!

Saturday, February 25, 7:30 p.m.
