Adult Education Winter Session with Rabbi Gamer
Tuesday evenings, beginning February 7 – 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for 5 weeks
Topic: “God, Torah and the Simpsons”
What is God, how do we deal with our own mortality, as well as family and social issues prevalent in modern society. Furthermore, how do we talk about these important issues in everyday conversation with kids, parents and friends. This class uses episodes from “The Simpsons” as a starting point to discuss these and other issues of religious importance.

Rabbi Gamer’s popular Lunch & Learn series returns with discussions on “Contemporary Jewish Law”, covering Jewish legal views on warfare, minyan over the Internet, biomedical issues and more. Texts will be provided. Cost is $15 per person. Call the synagogue office to sign up.

Rabbi Faudem will lead an exploration of Jewish texts and what they teach us about “Developing a Mentsch in the 21st Century”. How do we raise children to be mentsches in this challenging society? Topics include: Role Modeling Our Values, Developing Goodness within Your Child, Cultivating Humility, and Attentive Listening. There is no charge, but please call the synagogue office to register.

Are you ready to learn about the rest of Hebrew scripture – beyond the weekly Torah portion? Our own Dr. Joe Lewis will lead an exploration of ancient Jewish writings filled with exciting history, lofty poetry, and mysterious experiences. You don’t need to know Hebrew, and there’s no homework! Everyone is welcome. Bring a complete Hebrew/English Tanach and your curiosity. There is no charge, and you can join any time.
