Our special Selichot program begins with a showing of the Coen brothers 2009 film “A Serious Man.” The movie focuses on a Jewish professor at a Midwestern university who seeks meaning and answers as his life unravels. A discussion of the film and refreshments will follow.
At 11:15 p.m., we will have an informal, creative, participatory Selichot service with healing prayers and reflection focusing on the theme of forgiveness. Please join us. There is no charge, but donations are welcome to offset costs. RSVP to the synagogue office at 248-547-7970.
Schedule of Services
Daily and Shabbat Services
Our religious services are warm, spiritual, and inclusive. A variety of services, from traditional to creative-themed to alternative formats, offers options to appeal to the different tastes of our members.
Tot Shabbat services on the first and third Shabbat of the month, led by our beloved Miss Linda, instill the joy of the Sabbath in our youngest members through music, art, puppets and more.
New Family Shabbat services, beginning in October, on the second and fourth Shabbat of the month will engage youngsters 6 and older and their parents in the spirituality of the Sabbath. Rabbi Gamer, Cantor Sam and Lisa Soble Siegmann will rotate leading these services.
We welcome all visitors to join our Beth Shalom family in experiencing any of our religious services.
